TTV decided to honor Wagle for his contribution in promoting democracy, human rights and social justice through journalism despite several challenges facing Nepali media. [break]
According to Sunil Ranabhat, director of TTV, the award will handed over to Wagle on the third anniversary of TTV. The award carries a purse of Rs 201,000. A jury led by TTV advisor Harihar Birahi nominated Wagle for the award.
The jury comprised Narayan Sharma, chairman of Nepal Press Council (NPC), Shiva Gaunle, president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Dhruba Hari Adhikari, a senior journalist and Raj Kumar Bhattarai, chairman of Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN).
“We chose Wagle for this award for taking ahead Nepali journalism in a respectful manner,” Birahi said.
Meanwhile, TTV has also decided to honor its employee Ghanshyam Khadka with an award for his exemplary work.
