The secretaries resigned after repeated threats from Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha, an underground outfit.
A group of secretaries led by VDC Secretary Rights Protection Forum Bal Bahadur Khatri tendered their resignations at the District Development Committee office. "We have been having difficulty in working after we received death threats," Khatri said.
The outfit in its letters issued to secretaries has said that the resignation was required to pile pressure for the promulgation of new constitution on time.
Meanwhile, Local Development Officer of Myagdi Bishnu Prasad Pokharel said that the office would inform the ministry regarding the resignations.
"We would try to create a favorable environment to let the secretaries work in their respective fields through coordination with the local security bodies prior to accepting the resignations," Pokharel said.
