KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Music is beautiful and there are no second thoughts on that one! It reminds you of your past, makes you think about your present, and the future is, well, uncertain. In the past two weeks, Hits FM’s been seeing a lot of new releases from new bees and some long forgotten artists are back on track as well.

Ja Rule ruled the charts back in the days and it came as a surprise when his new track was released last week. He became one of the most commercially successful artists during the early 2000s, establishing himself with “Venni Vetti Vecci,” a hardcore debut similar in style to the rugged thug-Rap popularized by DMX. After a gap of over five years, the rapper released the album “Pain Is Love 2” which is outlined by the first single “Real Life Fantasy,” occasionally abbreviated RLF, featuring the vocals of Anita Louise. And the most interesting part about the track is that it samples “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.

Also, back on track is the artist always known for making dance floors crack. The once omnipresent Sean Paul has been largely quiet of late. But the silence appears to be officially over as the newly mohawked Jamaican drops the second single from his as yet untitled fifth studio album.

“She Doesn’t Mind” is a fusion of Electro-pop and hip hop. Tune to Hits FM to hear what the fuss is all about!

The biggest selling artist of 2011, Adele is also out with her new song this week, titled “Set Fire To The Rain.” A songwriter turned singer, Adele, who had a throat surgery and has quit smoking for singing, her songs feel like they are true reflections of life and are meaningful to an extent that sometimes it might bring tears to your eyes. That’s how good she is. Purchasing her album would be the smartest thing you’ll be doing this year.

The original American Idol Kelly Clarkson, too, has just released “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)” as the follow-up to her “Mr. Know It,” both off her new album “Stronger.”.

The new set is her fifth to date and picks up where her 2009 album “All I Ever Wanted” left off. Although the track does have a bit of her usual screeching high notes, this one sounds pretty likable.

On the other hand, long time rockers Nickelback are out with their brand new single, “This Means War,” released on Hits FM 91.2 quite a few weeks back. If you still haven’t checked it out, you’re missing out the icing on the cake!

“Hangover” singer Taio Cruz seems to be doing really well for himself creating a series of hits adapting to the new electro style music currently rocking the music industry.

It’s a well known fact that Cruz is considered to be one of the industry’s best songwriters and without any doubt, he does come out with the best of dance singles and crack the dance floor just like Sean Paul.

“Dynamite,” “Hangover” and now “Troublemaker” are taken off his current album “Ty.O”. Your party is definitely incomplete without this addition to your digital music library.

As the sun shines on already big artists, new bees like Luke Thompson, Rachel Plattem and Emeli Sande are making their way into the light too.

Thompson, a New Zealand singer-songwriter, whose rare debut album “Here on the Ground” announces the arrival of a major Kiwi talent and arrives as fully formed and mature as that by a 24-year old.

His debut release is called “Get Through It” and it soars with positive lyrics. And on the other hand, Platten, according to her official website, is beautiful, but not brazen, passionate, but never preachy.

This New York City singer-songwriter, pianist and beat-boxer, who is by no means your average headliner-in-the-making has her “1,000 Ships” out and about and the song is full of witty lyrics and a haunting melody.

Influenced by Nina Simone, Massive Attack and Joni Mitchell, three very different artists, Jazz Soul artist and a student of medicine, Emeli Sande has released her debut effort “Daddy” featuring Naughty Boy. The duo has worked on numerous singles for her debut album and is to be released by EMI.

Music changes with time and there is no stopping it. But at the moment, these are the singles that are set to hit Kathmandu high. Also, some singles worth listening to are “The Feel Again (Stay)” by Blue October, “No Light, No Light” by Florence & the Machine, “Blue Sky” by Common, “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees, and “Tonight” by Seether.
