BHADRAPUR, June 8: The banda called by the establishment faction of the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) had a partial impact in Jhapa Monday. Markets, transport services, schools and factories were partially affected.

Markets in Birtamod, Kakarbhitta, Damak, Surunga, Chandragadhi and Dhulabari were fully open. However, the banda affected markets in Gaurigunj, Shivgunj, Gauradaha, Tanghandubba and Rajgadh in the western belt of the district. The number of vehicles plying in the East-West Highway was low.

Meanwhile, around 10 MPRF activists were injured when they clashed with traders in Chandragadhi and Surunga after the businessmen retaliated against the MPFF cadres trying to forcefully close down the bazaar in the morning, an MPRF leader said.
