KATHMANDU, June 26: Monsoon clouds, which entered Nepal two weeks ago, has finally spread across the country.

According to a report released by the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), monsoon clouds reached the western region on June 24. Weather experts have attributed delay to weak monsoon.

"Formation of monsoon clouds was delayed in the pacific sea region. The impact has been termed the El Nino effect. Climatic condition above that region prevented formation of clouds. Eventually, this pushed backed the normal timing for the monsoon clouds to enter Nepal," said Samir Shrestha, meteorologist at MFD.

Shrestha also attributed the delay to cyclone Asoba and the depression that has formed above the Arabian Sea. "The cyclone observed most of the moisture from the clouds making it partially dry.
