During that musical evening, Yonjan not only sang some of the best compositions of Nepali modern music, he also unveiled many interesting incidents that went between him and his younger brother Gopal Yonjan.[break]
Often participated by the true music aficionados of Nepal from different walks of life, the second series of Paleti’s sixth year promises to serve many beautiful numbers by Meera Rana, alongside discussing some of her untold stories from her musical journey.
Actively singing since 1960, Rana’s inclination to classical music came from her father Pandit Shambu Prashad Mishra, a known tabla player.
In addition, composer Gopal Yonjan identified her singing style and contributed a dimension to it through his composition. Her singing career with Radio Nepal dates back to 1965. Her hit numbers include Makhmali Cholo Chaindaina, Mero Pauma Aaja, and Timilai Ruwaune.

She had also lent her voice together in duets with legendary Narayan Gopal (Mero Joban Laijau), and Gopal Yonjan (Nachideu Maichyang).
“It has been 44 years since I started singing, and I’ve seldom received opportunities to perform a solo show. I’m a feeling bit nervous as well. However, I do hope to get support from my audience,” shared Meera Rana.
“The main objective of Paleti is creating a positive musical environment by including revered artists of the Adhunik genre,” said Paleti coordinator Aavas. “I’m glad Meera accepted our invitation.”
From last month, Paleti has opened its annual membership schemes. Those who register themselves as member at Rs 3,000 for a year will be provided an audio CD of Paleti’s collection numbers every month. Besides, members will have 50 percent off on the entry pass, shared Aavas.
After Meera Rana, singer Prem Dhoj Pradhan will be gracing the extravaganza on March 26.
