Darjeeling-based singer Shanti Thatal’s voice will again be reverberating on June’s edition of Paleti, Nepalaya’s micro event series. Paleti featured her on the May’s edition of the micro monthly-show, where she performed her numbers.
This time, Thatal will be presenting Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota’s masterpiece ‘Muna Madan’, where she will be joined by two singers, Bimala Century and Meena Niraula.
Thatal performs ‘Muna Madan’ tunes
According to a press statement released by Nepalaya, Thatal composed the music for ‘Muna Madan’ in 1970 and in the late 70s; she performed it in Gangtok, Sikkim. “I almost forgot the composed tune of ‘Muna Madan’. Thanks to Paleti, I have attempted to remember it,” Thatal said in a statement.
Thatal and her group will also be supported by Dinesh Regmi on keyboards, Sandesh Maharjan on tabla, Balaram Samal on basuri, Suraj Pradhan on guitars and Sundar Maharjan on percussion.
Paleti’s first edition was organized back in 2005, aimed at presenting solo performances of people engaged in music from the time of nostalgically recalled. Since the series’ inception, over 50 music icons have performed at the Nepalaya’s stage.
The event will be held at Nepalaya’s ‘r’ sala, Kalikasthan from June 28 to 30. Tickets are available on Nepalaya and Paleti’s social media accounts. The tickets can also be bought from www.thrupai.com.
