According to Shah, Lama originally from Dhankuta, had fled and had been in hiding in the district since the last three months.

"He was working closely with Kirant Janbadi Workers and former Maoist combatants in the district. After a preliminary investigation, it has been learnt that they were planning explosions in Panchthar, Jhapa and Ilam," DIG Shah said.
Krishna Bahadur Tamang, Bir Bahadur Tamang and Man Bahadur Tamang had lost their lives in the explosion in Babarmahal on Febuary 27. Lama had owned up to the blast in the name of Bishwakranti.
