Members of the action committee opened the PADT office at 2 p.m. Monday after having padlocked it in protest against the appointment of two new Indian priests at Pashupatinath temple.

“We have opened the lock for until the Chhath festival, taking the welfare of ordinary people and devotees into consideration. We will bring a new program of protests after the end of the festivals,” said deputy coordinator of the action committee Ganesh Adhikari.
Adhikari said employees at Pashupati could not receive their salaries due to the padlocking of the PADT office and so it was opened to ensure they receive the salaries ahead of the Dashain festival.
