KATHMANDU, May 21: The central committee meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) began at party’s head office to analyze the latest political situation and decide on whether to extend the Constituent Assembly (CA) tenure on Friday.
Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma told reporters that the meeting will discuss agendas including CA term extension and future course of action of the party prepared by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. [break]
The meeting will analyze the agitation launched by the party a year ago for constitution-drafting and future strategies of the party, said Sharma.
Similarly, the meeting will also dwell on talks with Nepali Congress and CPN-UML and stance on army integration.
The concerns raised by the international community over the latest political developments and the draft constitution the party plans to make public on May 29 will also figure in the meeting.
Saying that discussions will be held on the proposal tabled by the government in the parliament to extend the CA term, Sharma said the party will also hold more discussion on the party’s stance for government’s resignation.
Earlier, the office bearers’ meeting discussed the agendas to be put in the central committee.
