KATHMANDU, May 20: A secretariat meeting of Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) decided to register a commitment proposal against President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav in the parliament Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting held on Wednesday morning under the chair of the party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the outgoing prime minister, also decided to take initiatives to resume the House proceedings.

However, a coalition of 22 political parties that have backed CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s candidacy for next prime minister have already rejected the Maoist’s proposal terming it unconstitutional.

The Maoist party has been staging protests against the president´s move to reinstate the army chief, who was sacked by Prime Minister Dahal, since the first week of this month.

The Maoist secretariat meeting decided to take action against an assistant in-charge of the party in Ramechhap district for attacking CPN-UML General Secretary, Ishwar Pokharel, on Sunday evening.
