KATHMANDU, May 12: Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has decided to boycott the all-party meeting, jointly called by Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) on Tuesday.

"The all-party meeting is meaningless," Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said. [break]

The Maoist has been demanding withdrawal of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s move (of reinstating army chief sacked by Maoist government) as a condition before proceeding towards forming the next government.

Although the Maoist has announced that it won´t enter into the process of forming the next government until an apology from the president, it has intensified consultation with various political parties to garner support its leadership for forming the next government.

The Maoist party, which has been continuing its politburo meeting, has already decided to intensify protests -- through both the streets and the parliament -- against the president´s move.

The NC and the UML have jointly called the all-party meeting to solicit majority for the formation of a majority government. President Yadav on Sunday sent a message to parliament to elect a new majority prime minister under the Article 38 (2) of the interim constitution after the parties failed to meet his deadline for forming the consensus government on Saturday.
