Madhesh Province’s budget spending capacity dismal

Madhesh Province government spent only 19.4 percent of the allocated budget for the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 in around 11 months.

KATHMANDU, June 6: Madhesh Province government spent only 19.4 percent of the allocated budget for the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 in around 11 months.



The Finance Ministry of the provincial government has informed that the aforementioned percentage of allocated expenditure was recorded as of Thursday. With the record, 80.6 percent of the budget is left to utilize with only over a month has been left for the completion of the current FY.

The provincial government has allocated a budget of Rs 46.98 billion for this year. Of the earmarked amount, only Rs 9.11 billion has been spent so far, including Rs 5.32 billion under recurrent expenditure and Rs 3.79 billion for capital expenditure.
