Speaking at a talk program on 'border-related problems and solution' organized by the Consulate General of India in Birgunj and Nepal-India Friendship Society here Friday, he stressed on the need to seek out durable solution of the border-related problems.
"The uniqueness of a porous border can become epochal if it was utilized in the right way", he said.
The Indian Ambassador also noted that the issues related to commerce and transit would be addressed during the secretary-level talks to be held next month.
Indian Consul General Anju Ranjan drew attention towards the rising smuggling of food products along the border.
The Society Chairperson Chanda Chaudhary expressed concern over activities that promote bitterness between citizens of the two countries.
Representatives from the security, trade and media sector of the border towns of Dhanusa, Mahottari, Sarlahi in Nepal and Sitamadhi and Madhubani district of India attended the program.
Matters relating to human trafficking, buying of daily consumables, transaction in Nepali currency, smuggling, travel of vehicles with Indian and Nepali registration plates, export of herbs among others were discussed during the program. RSS
