Taking part in the deliberation, lawmaker Ananda Prasad Dhungana said that the Tarai-Madhes has been expressing dissatisfaction as the new constitution failed to incorporate the issues included in the Interim Constitution-2063 BS.Stating that the new constitution has failed to incorporate people's aspiration, he urged to incorporate sentiments of disgruntled communities as well and blamed the government for its involvement in petty activities rather than resolving people's problem.
Similarly, Rajendra Prasad Pandey said that there is no meaning in objecting to the new constitution as it could be amended gradually in course of its implementation.
Stating that problem would be resolved after moving ahead by approving the constitution amendment bill, he urged the government to pay attention regarding talks and discussion as solution of all types of problems would be found through it.
Amanlal Modi said that complexities have surfaced due to the major political parties, saying the country was in problem after the new constitution failed to incorporate the issues of all classes and communities.
He stressed the need of incorporating the issues raised by Tarai-Madhes, Tharu and indigenous nationalities, among others in course of constitution amendment.
Likewise, Ram Hari Subedi said that the protest was being enforced at the backing of foreign force although the constitution has incorporated inclusiveness and proportional representative system, the issues over which the protest was launched.
Viewing that three to four states should be created in the Tarai-Madhes, he argued that the agitations launched with ill-intention would not find any way out, but only plunge the country into severe crisis.
Milan Kumari Rajbanshi stressed on the need to proceed the amendment to the constitution on the basis of consensus among the protesting parties.
Also, Nagendra Kumar Kumal echoed the voice of Rajbanshi, saying that the constitution amendment proposal should be widened so that it manages to incorporate rights of all the marginalised communities and address concerns of the agitating groups.
Amar Bahadur Thapa said that the agitations are a result of ill-intention as people living in the hills are put in much trouble than those in the plains.
Similarly, Dilman Pakhrin and Tularaj Bista pointed out the need to proceed ahead the amendment process, keeping in mind concerns of the protesting groups.
Member of Parliament Yagyaraj Sunar claimed that demands of the protesting parties are yet to be addressed due to a refusal of Nepali Congress to push through the constitution amendment proposal put forth by CPN-UML earlier. RSS
