KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The government has decided to draft an integrated land-related bill incorporating the provisions of Guthi (trust) Bill which was withdrawn from parliament in June following controversies.
Unveiling the Cabinet decisions on Thursday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said that the Cabinet meeting last week has given its consent to draft the integrated bill to the ministry concerned.

“We have lots of land related laws but they are scattered. The integrated bill will accommodate all land management related laws including the provisions of Guthi-related land,” said Minister Baskota.
Based on the Cabinet’s go-ahead, the Ministry of Land Management will drat the bill and table it at a Cabinet meeting for approval to register in parliament. The government got endorsed a land-related bill from parliament in August which has redefined the classification of land across the country.
Earlier, a separate Guthi-related bill was withdrawn from parliament after widespread protests across the capital against several provisions in the bill including the one that could pave the way for privatization of Guthi land.
