KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala has remained adamant over deferring Mahasamiti meeting even as majority of Central Working Committee (CWC) members on Saturday opposed his proposal. Party sources said President Koirala has decided to sit with senior leaders of the party to settle the issue.

Acting President Sushil Koirala had reached Koirala´s residence on Sunday to apprise him of the demand of majority Central Working Committee (CWC) members not to defer the Mahasamiti meeting slated for November 1-3. Acting President Koirala had sought party president´s opinion about the CWC demand for holding the Mahasamiti meeting on scheduled date.

President Koirala has repeatedly asked the party´s senior leaders including Ram Chandra Poudel to defer the Mahasamiti meeting, arguing that there would be no need to hold Mahasamiti meeting at a time when general convention has been called.
