Kathmandu ranked world’s second most polluted city

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Kathmandu has been ranked the second most polluted city in the world. According to IQAir, the pollution level in Kathmandu was measured at 196 AQI at the time the report was prepared.

Pakistan’s Karachi is the first among the most polluted cities with 215 AQI. Similarly, in Nepal, Pokhara's air pollution has topped the country’s list for the second consecutive day. As of 10:30 am, Pokhara’s air pollution is in the red zone with 190 AQI.

Additionally, Kathmandu's Sankha Park ranked second after Pokhara, with Bharatpur in third place. Both have AQI of 182. The pollution level of Bhaktapur has been measured at 169, followed by Dhangadhi with 167; Ratnapark area with 163; Hetauda with 159, and Khumaltar with 159.

Since morning, high air pollution levels have begun to affect daily life. When the pollution index exceeds 50 AQI, the air is considered unhealthy.
