Judging round of IME-Global-IME Nepal Photo Contest begins

KATHMANDU, June 26: The judging round of IME-Global-IME Nepal Photo Contest, organized by the Photojournalist Club (PJ Club) has kicked off and will continue for two days. The panel of judges this year consists of renowned photographer Gopal Chitrakar as the panel’s Chairman, Indian photographer Raghu Rai, photographer Mani Lama, Editor Sudhir Sharma of Kantipur Daily, Program Coordinator of KU School of Arts Sujan Chitrakar and President Prakash Mathema of PJ Club.



The contest received a total of 7,549 entries for its various seven categories. The entries were received from 938 professional and amateur photographers from all over the nation. Apart from picking the winners in each category, the panel of judges will also be picking out the best 150 entries to the contest. [break]



One photograph will receive the award of the ‘Best Photo of the Year’. The recipient of this award will receive Rs 1, 00,000 whereas the photograph chosen as the first, second and third in each category will receive Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.



The winners of this contest will be declared on June 28 at Nepal Tourism Board in Bhrikutimandap, during an award ceremony. The photos will be exhibited at the Nepal Art Council in Baber Mahal from July 10 to July 14.
