KATHMANDU, Oct 7: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has decided to merge with political parties that share similar ideals and principles. Purna Basnet, head of the party’s Department of Publicity and Publication, informed that the decision was taken during a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee to unite with political parties that align on ideology, principles, and key issues.

According to Basnet, political parties that do not fully share the party’s ideology and principles but agree on certain political agendas will collaborate through joint fronts, working alliances, or other forms of cooperation.

Similarly, the meeting decided to make the Federal Democratic Front more active, effective, and strong, and to collaborate, as the time and circumstances demand, with other parties or fronts to defeat reactionary forces opposing federalism, equality, democracy, republic, secularism, inclusivity, and social justice.

Following the Gen Z movement, political parties have been making efforts toward unity, forming fronts, and collaborating. In the fourth week of September, youth leaders from five political parties, including JSP Nepal, issued a joint appeal urging the party leadership to pursue unity among parties upholding socialist ideals.
