JHAPA, April 8: The 30-party alliance has shut down the district Wednesday also demanding release of eight cadres arrested during the general strike yesterday.

The agitating bandh enforces have set a fire to an Indian jeep, WB 74 B 9595, heading to Dharan from Kurseong of West Bengal, near Deuniya bridge along the East-West Highway this morning.

Both long and short-route vehicles have stayed off the road while educational institutes, market places and factories have partly opened.

The strike will continue until the arrested eight cadres including UCPN (Maoist) Jhapa in-charge Dharmashila Chapagain, are released, said bandh enforcers.
