Likewise, the office has asked Ma Tara Offset Press to pay Rs 20 million in taxes and fines for evading VAT and income tax.

Satyal Publications had not filed income tax details since 2006/07. But the IRO´s investigation showed that the company had earned taxable incomes worth Rs 109.1 million over the last three and half years. Ma Tara Offset Press had manipulated sales to evade VAT.

The office had seized the daybooks, computers and taken over the digitized business details of those firms a month ago. Both these firms belong to the same promoters. Satyal Publications is engaged in supplying books and copies to top schools in the Kathmandu Valley, while Ma Tara Offset Press prints books for Janak Education Materials Center.
