Organized by Kathmandu College of Management (KCM), the first day of the preliminary round was started with the performance by the band Pratibimba from Dharan College of Management. Their cover of Road House Blues by The Doors was an enthralling performance for an electrifying beginning. Pratibimba was followed by different colleges of Kathmandu.
Twenty-nine bands from different undergraduate and +2 colleges from all over Nepal participated in the preliminary round.
“The primary aim of this music competition is to provide young and energetic college students a platform to exhibit their musical talent. In addition, it aims to enhance interaction among educational institutions of the country,” said the organizer.
Prominent drummer Dev Rana, bass guitarist Pujan Shrestha and lead vocalist Ashesh Dangol of Nekhvam band are the jury members of the competition. The event drew a larger crowd on the second day of the prelim round.
Amongst the 29 bands, 15 short-listed to perform in the finale are Dharan College of Management, Chelsea Academy, Nobel Academy, Everest College II, Golden Gate College, St. Xavier’s College, Rhododendron International Boarding School, British School, Malpi Institute, Kathmandu Valley Higher Secondary School, Pulchowk College, Little Angel’s College of Management, Kathmandu University, Campion College, and Cosmopolitan College.
The grand finale will commence December 5 at Bhrikuti Mandap, Exhibition Road. The first three winners of the competition will be awarded cash prize of Rs 50, 000, Rs 20, 000 and Rs 10, 000 respectively.
