Dr Khatiwada said this while interacting with a delegation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) led by its president Surendra Bir Malakar.
Addressing the concerns raised by the businessmen, Dr Khatiwada said that the government has planned to raise revenue by widening the revenue base rather than increasing tax rates. He also noted that the NPC´s focus for now has been on raising the purchasing capacity of the people and domestic demand.
“NPC is taking steps toward mobilizing the capital of non-resident Nepalis (NRNs),” an NCC press release quoted him as saying.
Speaking on the occasion, NCC President Malakar had argued for banning highways closure and general strikes. He also stressed that government should come up with special programs on commercializing agriculture and development of tourism-related infrastructure for giving new lease of life to rural economy.
