Minister of state for parliamentary affairs Rajiv Shukla said while speaking to media-persons here that everyone should leave it to the parliament to decide on the Lokpal as it is in its domain now. [break]
"The government has already piloted the Bill in Lok Sabha. It is a very strong and effective Bill. So, I think we will go by the decision of parliament. Everybody will be deliberating upon that," he said.
Shukla said categorically that the parliament will decide on the fate of the Lokpal bill.
"I would only request him (Hazare) to wait for the outcome of parliament debate," pointing that Hazare should have more patience on the issue.
Hazare is set to launch a three-day fast starting Tuesday in Mumbai at the MMRDA ground in protest against the "weak" Lokpal Bill introduced by government in Lok Sabha. Hazare said his close aides Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi will join him in his fast while another group of activists will go on hunger strike in Delhi in support for a strong Lokpal bill.
Hazare is also said to be suffering from viral infection.
Anna’s team member Kejriwal has said he has “no faith in the parliament.” In fact, the Congress and Team Anna have taken to war of words against each other since past week. Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Friday termed Anna Hazare´s campaign for the Jan Lokpal bill as "totally political" and alleged it has nothing to do with corruption.
Meanwhile, the ruling Congress party in India has also raised questions about why the opposition BJP jumps to Hazare´s defense whenever someone alleges that the anti-corruption crusader has links with RSS.
Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi has been widely quoted in the media as saying, "Whenever it is asked whether Anna Hazare shares same views as BJP and RSS, instead of Team Anna replying to the question we have the BJP and RSS clarifying that Hazare has no link with them. I am surprised with such kind of equation shared between them.”
