Indian foreign secretary arriving next week

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Newly appointed Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao will arrive here on a two-day official visit on September 14, the Indian embassy told  myrepublica.com. During her stay, she will hold talks with the prime minister, ministers and leaders of major political parties.



Rao took charge of the office on August 1. She succeeded Shivshankar Menon. Rao became the first woman spokesperson of the external affairs ministry in 2001. She served as ambassador to Sri Lanka and China.



In her 36-year-long career, she has also served as ambassador to Peru and deputy chief of mission in Moscow.
