In a statement on Thursday evening, the embassy extended its felicitations to the Nepali people and authorities for successfully completing the democratic exercise. Likewise, China also expressed happiness over the peaceful completion of the election. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming issued a message congratulating Nepal on the successful conduct of the polls.
In a message posted on X, the ambassador said it was positive that the HoR election in Nepal was held in a peaceful, orderly and smooth manner. He congratulated the Nepali people for exercising their democratic rights.
The ambassador also praised the efforts made by Nepali authorities and people from all sectors in successfully conducting the election. China expressed its wishes for Nepal’s stability, development and prosperity and reaffirmed its continued support to the country.
According to the Election Commission, voter turnout in the HoR election was around 60 percent. Following the completion of voting, ballot boxes from polling stations across the country are being transported to counting centers. Counting is set to begin immediately after ballot collection, with final results for both the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) and Proportional Representation (PR) systems expected within a week. If the schedule holds, Nepal could have a newly elected government by the third week of this month, restoring the country to constitutional governance after a period of political instability.
