KATHMANDU, April 2: Seven community development projects in education, health and agriculture sectors will be implemented in Nepal with grant assistance from the Government of India, following the signing of agreements on Friday, the Embassy of India said in a press release.
The Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and project implementing agencies of the Government of Nepal. The projects have an estimated total cost of Rs 473 million, the press release stated.

According to the Indian Embassy, the projects will be implemented under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) programme through local governments and institutions.
The press release further stated that the projects include the construction of cold storage facilities in Madhyabindu Municipality of Nawalpur district and Laligurans Municipality of Tehrathum district. School infrastructure projects include the construction of buildings, a hostel and a canteen at Janabal Secondary School in Mustang, a primary school building for Shree Kalika Primary School in Kailali, a school building for Shree Kasturi Secondary School in Dolpa, and another for Shree Jana Kalyan Secondary School in Banke.
The projects also include the construction of a birthing centre in Paroha Municipality of Rautahat district.
Since 2003, India has supported 598 HICDP projects in Nepal, of which 506 have already been completed across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, drinking water, sanitation, connectivity and other public infrastructure. The remaining projects are currently under various stages of implementation, the press release said.
