Though officials at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Kathmandu are tight-lipped about it, multiple other sources familiar with the development confirmed the decision of the Indian External Affairs Ministry. Sources said Indian side is currently in the process of getting Rae´s agreemo endorsed by the Nepal government.[break]
Senior Indian journalist Prabhu Chwla in his regular column South Block Watch published in Indian Express on Sunday said Rae is among the five Indian ambassadors nominated by the South Block recently.
Along with Rae, Yash Sinha has been nominated as Indian envoy to Sri Lanka, Preeti Saran to Vietnam, Radhika Lokesh to Ireland and Rajesh Prasad to the Netherlands.
Born in 1957, Rae joined Indian Foreign Service in 1980. He is currently serving as Indian ambassador to Vietnam since June, 2010. Previously, he served in different capacities at various Indian missions abroad including in Uganda, New York and Budapest.
