The students, demonstrating since Monday, manhandled Tikendra Bhatta, a Maoist Constituent Assembly member, after he denounced the demonstrations as a move to prove current government a failure.
The members of the student wing of the Maoists then intervened in a rally organized by the civil society in support of the demands. At least 18 were injured in the incident.
Dozens other were also injured during the students’ clashes with police in the city of far-western Nepal. The demonstrators have vowed to continue the demonstration until their demands are met.
