The 1.5 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) transformer brought two days ago from Hetauda by Nepal electricity authority NEA burst while installing, said NEA Ilam Branch Chief Rajib Kumar Sharma. [break]
Electricity was disrupted after the transformer here exploded on Sunday due to lightning affecting 20 VDCs including Ilam, the district headquarters and news papers and FMs here have been closed.
The bridge at Maikhola will not sustain the 29 tons of load of crane and transformer planned to be brought from Damak, Jhapa and alternate method should be arranged, said Engineer of the Eastern Road Division Office Ilam, Arun Karna.
