Pokharel was attacked while returning from Manthali in Ramechhap, where he was attending an interaction of senior UML workers.
Condemning the incident, HURON has also said that by attacking Pokharel the Maoist cadres have proved that they actually want all those in Ramechapp district who support the President´s move to leave their villages. It said that such an act is against the spirit of the interim constitution, the law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
It has urged the government to immediately arrest those behind the incident and ensure that no political party gives protection to cadres carrying out such unlawful activities.
