At a press conference on Saturday at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister Ghimire claimed that security situation this time was better than in the past. [break]
Minister Ghimire said the government would not leave any stone unturned to keep effective security aimed at ensuring people´s fundamental rights.
"Next ten days are extremely important for the government. The government is all set to hold CA election. We are fully committed to maintain well-managed security so that the country does not have to suffer," Ghimire said.
Minister Ghimire further said the government would deploy security personnel for all election candidates, if they ask for it. "The government is committed to hold CA elections on the stipulated date as all security apparatus; Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force would be deployed to keep security situation robust and intact aimed at preventing untoward incidents during the election," Ghimire said.
As the poll-opposing parties have announced nationwide strike, Minister Ghimire said, "The country is all set to go for elections on the stipulated date. If anti-poll forces pose hurdles for the election, the government would be assertive and deploy all security apparatuses to maintain effective election security."
"We would make every effort so that general strike is not enforced," Ghimire said, adding, "The security personnel have already been deployed in all districts as per the Integrated Security Plan.
He said the government was confident of implementing an impartial election strategy.
