KATHMANDU, April 20
: A meeting of High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) has been scheduled for Wednesday, informed CA chairman Subash Nembang on Tuesday.

According to him, the meeting is expected to be focused on the major contentious issues that surfaced in the constitution writing process. [break]

The HLPM is also expected to discuss the issue of extension of the Constituent Assembly (CA) term and peace process, among other contemporary political issues.

Despite giving continuity to the HLPM, which is considered a brainchild of late Girija Prasad Koirala, its meetings have been postponed time and again after demise of Koirala who was its coordinator.

The major three political parties have been differing in different issues though they have agreed to form the State Restructuring Commission.

Earlier on April 4, the meeting was expected to give the final shape to the commission, however, it was postponed at the last moment.

The parties have also claimed their stake to lead the mechanism as the successor of late Koirala.

A Standing Committee meeting of Unified CPN (Maoist) had demanded that its chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal should be allowed to lead the mechanism as it is the largest party.
