Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) and HISSAN signed an agreement for the scholarship amidst a press conference in the capital on Friday. NeBA President Tendi Lama Sherpa and senior vice president of HISSAN Dr Baburam Pokharel signed the understanding on behalf of their respective institutions. [break]
Talented SLC pass out players are selected by NeBA through talent hunt program as per their annual calendar. Altogether 56 players including 40 boys and 16 girls will be given scholarship in 10 different member colleges of HISSAN.
As per the agreement, the players selected will be given free education for two years at HISSAN member colleges that include Himalayan Whitehouse, VS Niketan, Don Bosco, Columbus, Little Angels´, Nobel Academy and Kathmandu Valley College.
HISSAN will also provide Rs 50,000 annually to NeBA for training of each selected player. The players will be given regular training by NeBA.
NeBA President Sherpa lauded the role of HISSAN for promotion of basketball in the nation. He said that HISSAN has started a long-term program for the development of basketball. He also expressed his commitment to expand the program across the nation.
