As per the agreement, HISSAN will provide free education to 120 talented SLC pass volleyball players -- 60 of them will be offered scholarship at HISSAN member colleges in the capital and remaining 60 at moffusal member colleges of HISSAN.[break]
NVA President Ganga Bahadur Thapa and HISSAN Senior Vice-president Baburam Pokharel signed the deal on behalf of their respective institutions.
However, the new academic session for higher secondary education has already begun and the NVA is to finalize the players selection criteria within two weeks. "It was only a technical problem and if the players have already enrolled and qualify for scholarship, they will be offered scholarship in the very college," Pokharel, the senior vice-president of HISSAN said.
The selected players need to sign a three-year contract with HISSAN.
The selected clubs will be given regular training by the NVA and the HISSAN will get the status of club and will be eligible to participate in the tournament organized by NVA.
HSSAN will organize a HISSAN Cup League Volleyball every month and NVA will provide technical support for each tournament to be organized by HISSAN.
NVA President Thapa said that the scholarship program is a milestone for volleyball development in the nation and the program will motivate young talented players and their parents to develop positive attitude toward sports.
VS Niketan, Little Angels, Nobel Academy, Xavier International, White House, Kathmandu Don Bosco, Kathmandu Valley, CCRC, NASA and Prime are the colleges to provide scholarships for selected players. These colleges will admit six players each.
HISSAN had also given scholarship to 150 football players and 60 basketball players earlier in their member colleges in the capital.
