Govt to make every effort to release Col. Lama

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The government has decided to make every possible effort through the diplomatic and legal channels to release Nepal Army Colonel Kumar Lama arrested on charge of human rights violations committed during the decade-long insurgency.



“The government will take an initiative to release Colonel Kumar Lama through diplomatic and legal channels,” Minister of Forests and Soil Conservation, Yadu Bansa Jha said after the cabinet meeting on Thursday meeting adding, “The government will take legal measures and even release money, if required, to release Lama on bail.”[break]



The cabinet also approved vacancies required for the formation of National Development and Security Directorate under the Nepal Army.



The security personnel deployed for the security of the attorney general will be provided with Rs 75 as daily allowance, the government decided.
