Ghimire said the Integrated Security Plan incorporates special measures to contain activities aimed at disrupting the polls. “Election is a forum to bring together various opinions. It is absolutely wrong to boycott the election,” he further said, urging all poll-opposing parties to join the election process.
Highlighting the salient features of the Integrated Security Plan jointly prepared by Home Ministry and Defense Ministry, the home minister said the government would leave no stone unturned to punish those who would try to disrupt the election. “The elections are being held for the Nepali people at large as they have long been waiting to exercise their voting rights,” he said. Ghimire also said that election won´t be affected just because a handful of political parties are against it.
The security meeting was organized to discuss integrated security plan for all the eastern 16 districts in view of the upcoming Constituent Assembly elections. The joint security meeting attended by representatives of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department and Nepal Army will chalk out a security strategy for elections.
The last regional security meeting is scheduled for Friday in Pokhara, the Western Regional Headquarters.
Government officials maintain that the security meetings held in various regional headquarters will not only chalk out security plans for the elections but would also encourage voters and candidates to participate in the polls.
