KATHMANDU, April 12: The government and the Tamsaling National Struggle Committee signed a 19-point deal agreeing to constitute a state-restructuring commission comprising representatives of various ethnic groups.

The representative group of Tamang community agreed to call off the strike following the agreement, which among other things calls for reviewing the status of cow as national animal and dissolution of Pipa Goshwara, a non-infantry battalion, of Nepal Army, among other things.

The government has agreed to forward eight of the demands raised by the group to concerned committees of the Constituent Assembly as they are related to constitution-making process. Both the sides have agreed to monitor the implementation of the agreements through a five-member joint panel.
