Acting on a proposal tabled by Health Minister Rajendra Mahato, a cabinet meeting held on Thursday morning at Singha Durbar decided to change the names of Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Lahan Bal Hospital to Shahid Ramesh Mahato Bal Hospital and Gulariya Hospital to Bardiya District Hospital. According to Minister for Information and Communications Rajkishor Yadav, who is also government spokesman, the cabinet meeting also decided to form a five-member Far-West Development Commission headed by Jhapat Bohara.
Similarly, the government has decided to extend the tenure of the taskforce earlier formed to collect data on the conflict-affected peoples and infrastructures, till mid-April 2013.
Likewise, the cabinet meeting decided to accord recognition to veteran freedom fighter late Ram Hari Sharma after holding consultation with the bereaved family.
The government decided to posthumously accord honor to Sharma, also known as the living martyr of the anti-Rana movement six decades ago, who passed away, a day earlier, aged 96.
In yet another decision, the cabinet meeting decided to promote under secretary Hridaya Narayan Mishra at the land reforms ministry to the post of joint secretary.
