JANAKPUR, April 1: Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi blamed that the current UML-led government itself was a hindrance to the implementation of the country's new constitution.

Addressing his party's assembly in Janakpur on Friday, Nidhi criticized that the present government is not in favor of setting up provincial structure in line with the provisions in the constitution. He also expressed his disappointment over the recent recommendations for the post of Supreme Court justices.

"The government has failed completely to implement the constitution, address the issues of Madhes and execute post-quake reconstruction works," he said.

Instead of leading the efforts for implementing the constitution, the government itself is involved in activities against the provisions in the statute, according to the NC leader.

The government, which has already failed to take the United Democratic Madhesi Front into confidence, has also caused friction with India and European Union, Nidhi blamed.

"The current government is solely responsible for irritating India and European Union," he added.
