Govt. forms committee to recommend SEBON chief

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a three-member committee to recommend someone for nomination as the next chief of the Securities Board (SEBON)’s apex capital market regulator. [break]

The post has remained vacant since Dr Chiranjibi Nepal resigned as chairman of the board about two weeks back, citing inadequate cooperation from the government.

According to a government official, the committee is currently headed by Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission Dr Pitamber Sharma. Similarly, Revenue Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Krishna Hari Baskota and Joint Secretary Bimal Prasad Wagle are members of the committee.


The committee has started studying the CVs of potential candidates and the name of the candidate who rates the highest will be forwarded to the cabinet for formal endorsement, said the official.
