Govt allocates over Rs 17.64 bn for Fast Track project

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the national budget in Parliament on Friday, stating that construction work under the fast track project will be accelerated.

KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has allocated Rs 17.64 billion for the Kathmandu–Terai Fast Track project in the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.



Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the national budget in Parliament on Friday, stating that construction work under the fast track project will be accelerated.

He said that 40 bridges and 5.4 kilometers of tunnels will be constructed under the project. In addition, link road development connected to the fast track will also begin in the coming fiscal year.


Officials said the investment is aimed at speeding up one of Nepal’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, which is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Kathmandu and the southern plains.
