UDAYPUR, May 24: A struggle committee formed to protest the killing of 14-year-old Bijay (Suman) Magar of Triyuga Municipality-17 by an unidentified person on Thursday has shutdown Gaighat Bazaar Sunday.

Markets and transport services have been closed due to the banda. Protesters seized a jeep and a tractor for defying the banda.

Locals have accused APF person Trilok Puri of Nepalgunj, who is posted in Siraha, of involvement in the killing. Father of the killed child has lodged an application in the district police office accusing Puri of killing his son.

Puri was found with his tongue chopped off the same day in Udaypur, where he had gone on a personal visit. Currently, after getting treatment in Dharan, he is in APF’s Barmajhiya office in Saptari.

Udaypur’s DSP Pashupatinath Dotel had gone to Saptari to bring Puri to Udaypur for probe yesterday. Locals called the banda today after Dotel returned without bringing Puri to Udaypur.

The struggle committee has demanded that Puri should be booked and the killing be properly probed, victim’s family be compensated, and the victim be declared a martyr.
