Gachchhadar dismisses Bhattarai's accusation against Prez

BIRGUNJ, April 20: A day after former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai accused the president of four coup attempts during his term at office, one of the former deputy prime ministers of his government dismissed the accusation as baseless.



Speaking with reporters at Birgunj on Saturday, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic Chairman and deputy prime minister of Bhattarai led government Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar said president performed his duties within the limits permitted by the constitution. [break]



“The roles of the president are related to the government. I am not aware of such attempts by the president,” Gachchhadar added, “As far as I know the president performed his duties in good spirit.”



The chairman assured that a fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) election was possible in November.



He claimed that major parties are trying to woo the dissident parties to participate in elections. He further claimed process to rope in CPN-Maoist and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum leaders in the high level political mechanism is underway.



Bhattarai in a meeting with select group of journalists yesterday accused the president of four coup attempts.
