Speaking at a media briefing in the capital on Tuesday, Chhaya Sharma, president of FWEAN, said the event will focus more on women from rural areas who still don´t have the basic knowledge of entrepreneurship. "Many women still consider business as a masculine job and that it requires a lot of investment," she said.[break]
FWEAN is organizing a fair to showcase the products produced by women entrepreneurs. The products will include garments, handicrafts, organic vegetables and food commodity, among others.
"We are providing spaces only to the exhibitors from rural areas. Women in urban areas have easy access for marketing and promotions,” said Sharma.
Along with the fair, FWEAN in association of FNCCI is also organizing half-day workshop which is estimated to bring more than 200 women entrepreneurs under one roof. Similarly, the federation is also demonstrating the procedure to prepare cmopost fertilizer.
"They are many enterprises that are being successfully run by women. The event can be useful to inspire the new entrepreneurs and exchange ideas,” Sharma said.
Apart from that, FWEAN is also organizing street drama to raise awareness about home stay program and foreign employment. The other events include morning procession on Friday, unveiling of FWEAN souvenir ´Enterprising Women Nepal´, felicitation of women involved in micro enterprises, and musical program, among others.
WEAN plans to open chapters in all the districts of Nepal. At present it has chapters in 11 districts.
