Mahat was the minister for hydro power and transport and had also served as a member of Rajparishad Standing Committee. Late Mahat is survived by three daughters and three sons.
Compensation paid to dead boy´s kin
PALPA, Sept 30: Chief District Officer (CDO) of Palpa Janak Raj Regmi on Thursday handed over Rs 50,000 to the family of an 11-year-old Darsan Nepal, who had died while undergoing treatment at the Mission Hospital in Tansen.
CDO Regmi handed over the relief money to Darsan´s uncle Gagan Nepali. Darsan, whose right hand was dislocated, had died of post-surgery complications. After doctors plastered his injured hand at the hospital, Darsan had suffered bleeding and swelling.
Darsan´s family has claimed that he died due to the hospital´s negligence. However, the hospital has denied allegations. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has dispatched a team led by joint secretary Surya Prasad Acharya to look into the boy´s death.
One dies of diarrhea
DOTI, Sept 30: A girl has died of diarrhea in Bramtola-2 Wednesday evening while over half a dozen has fallen sick. Laxmi Kuari Khatri, 14, succumbed to the disease while another Paru Padhyaya is in a critical condition, according to Lal Prasad Padhyaya, who claimed there has been a diarrhea outbreak in the village in the last few days. But District Public Health Office (DPHO) said it has no knowledge of outbreak in the village. “I will send a team of health officials immediately after verifying the facts,” Chief of DPHO, Doti, Bhawani Prasad Sharma said.
