According to Nepal Police, it has been receiving more funds from various bilateral and multilateral development partners in its campaign to enhance Nepal´s peace and security situation.
Apart from DFID, other development partners are Asian Development Bank, UNDP, Asia Foundation government of US and India. “The assistance has not only helped us build physical infrastructure but has also helped enhance the capacity of police personnel through trainings,” said police spokesperson DIG Kamal Singh Bam.
The assistance under the integrated program of DFID will be more used for preventing gender based violence, modernizing and improving policing, establishing women and children service centers in different police units and monitoring and evaluating the progresses.
Similarly, a UNDP project focusing on the reduction of armed violence and strengthening community security is under way. A national crime observation center has been established to build a data-base for the Nepal Police. A project under the Stockpile Management to manage the illegal arms, ammunitions and explosives is also under way.
