Kush Kumar Joshi, president of FNCCI, said the term of CA should be extended before May 28 to save the country from looming political crisis. "We will be compelled to force the parties to come to an agreement until the term is extended," Joshi told a press meet organized by FNCCI on Monday. [break]
Joshi asked the political leaders to work as per the mandate of people. "The national economy loses Rs 2.5 billion a day due to strike. The six days of strike has made an irreparable loss to the national economy," Joshi said.
Shrestha also said all the stakeholders and industrialists should work together to pile pressure on the leaders to come to an agreement. "We aren´t trying to work for or against any party as such. We are just trying to apprise political leadership about the losses that the business sector has been suffering due to instability in the country," he added.
Joshi also said FNCCI had neither sought the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal nor had it told the government that it won´t pay tax.
"Paying tax is our responsibility as we have been living and doing business here. We only said that we mightn´t be able to pay tax any longer if the unstable situation continued any further," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Surendra Bir Malakar, chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, said the parties should come to an agreement for extending the CA term to avert constitutional vacuum.
