The condition of 23 is said to be critical, according to Lalit Jung Shahi, a doctor deployed in the affected areas of Kalikot.
He informed that the deadly seasonal flu spreading to Kalikot from Jajarkot has infected a total of 239 people as of Thursday, and it has already claimed a three-year-old child's life on Wednesday.Identified cases of seasonal flu show that the elderly, children and patients suffering from other diseases are more vulnerable, Dr Shahi added.
The diagnosis of hundreds of patients with the deadly flu has further panicked the locals.
The locals have become irate after a team of heath workers and doctors led by Dr Rajendra Panta returned to the headquarters following their visit to the affected areas.
"Dr Panta's team visited the affected areas just like a tourist," Dilip Shahi, a local of Mehilmudi, alleged. He said that the elderly and children among the infected locals are at high risk.
Irate and anxious locals have been complaining of shortage of medicines in most of the local health facilities.
Meanwhile, all the schools of affected Mehilmudi VDC have been closed since Tuesday.
The flu has infected locals of Mehilmudi and Ramnakot VDCs in the district, according to District Health Office (DHO), Kalikot.
